DVM Assistant/Receptionist

Location: West Hartford, Connecticut

Connecticut Veterinary Center of West Hartford is a leading veterinary clinic and 24 hour animal hospital dedicated to providing exceptional care to our furry friends. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate DVM Assistant/Receptionist to join our team and assist in delivering high-quality veterinary services to our clients and their pets.

Job Description:

As a DVM Assistant/Receptionist at Connecticut Veterinary Center, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our clinic and delivering outstanding customer service to our clients. Your responsibilities will include:

Veterinary Assistance:

  • Assisting our veterinarians during examinations and procedures.

  • Handling and restraining animals with care and compassion.

  • Preparing and maintaining treatment rooms and equipment.

  • Administering medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians.

  • Assisting with laboratory procedures and sample collection.

Receptionist Duties:

  • Greeting clients and their pets with a warm and friendly demeanor.

  • Managing phone calls, scheduling appointments, and addressing client inquiries.

  • Checking clients in and out, processing payments, and maintaining accurate records.

  • Managing client files, including medical records and invoices.

  • Providing information on clinic services and products.

General Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the reception and waiting areas.

  • Supporting colleagues in maintaining a safe and clean environment.

  • Adhering to all clinic policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

  • Participating in team meetings and training as required.

Qualifications:

  • DVM Assistant Certification/formal training – minimum of 1 year experience preferred.

  • Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting – minimum of 1 year experience preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Compassion and genuine love for animals.

  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.

Salary: $16 – $18 per hour

Job Type: Full-Time, 30 – 40 hours per week

Schedule: Seeking open availability. Commitment of at least 1 weekend shift per week required.
